With the picture I wanted to show Kat’s feelings and what she thinks about the schools of Padua and Sarah Lawrence. She is unhappy at Padua and wants to go to Sarah Lawrence because she thinks that she would feel better there.

First of all I divided the picture into two parts. One “dark” part which is grey and a “light” part that is yellow.
In the dark part I wrote Padua and Sarah Lawrence in the light one. The different colors are meant to strenghten the impression of what she thinks about the two schools. Dark for negative thoughts and light for positive ones.

For each letter of the school’s name I tried to find a word beginning with the corresponding letter that reflects her opinion about the school.

- She doesn’t like Padua and she says that it’s like a prison. So my word for P was prison.
- I wrote anger for the A because she gets angry every time she thinks about her school.
- I used detestation because she doesn’t like her school.
- The word for U is ugliness because she thinks that her school is not good and ugly.
- For the last A I used aggression. I wrote that because she gets aggressive every time she thinks about her school.

- For Sarah Lawrence I tried to find positive words. These words describe what she hopes to find there. These are things signify satisfaction.
- She hopes to be accepted at the new school so I took the word acceptance.
- Kat wants to find people there that acknowledge what she does – acknowledgement.
- She wants to feel better so she hopes to find some kind of aid there and a place where she belongs, a niche.

  Example 7

My picture shows the different groups of Padua High School, the school the Stratford sisters go to. I made a collage consisting of different materials and I gave every group a special colour so that you can separate them.

First you can see the "Coffee Kids" who appear at the beginning of the story. In this group the members talk about coffee, only about coffee and the coffee beans. The colour of this group is brown because coffee is brown and the beans are too.

The next group I drew is called the "Mallflowers". The members in that group are rich and they are would-be business people and they can buy whatever they want because they are sponsored by their parents and their platinum cards. I glued coins in their part of the picture and nothing else because the only thing they possess is money. So I gave them the colour green, green being the colour of money.

I also wrote short summaries for every group so that you can imagine the different characters and how they look like.

The biggest group and the most important group in the whole movie are the "Beautiful People". In the picture you can read a short summary about them and I wrote different famous names of designers in it . Then I drew the colour of the group red because their life is nothing but money, love, dating, beauty. But you can also see many pictures of beautiful people who are laughing and having fun. In this group the leading roles of Joey Donner and Bianca Stratford are included.

Last but not least I drew a traditional old American school which should show Padua High School. I put it in because all the different groups belong to Padua High School and this is the only thing that holds them together.

Summing up I would like to say that the reasons why I made this collage is that I thought it would look creative and these things were the things I noticed most. These groups were striking even though they have only minor parts (except the beautiful people) in the book.
